Assignment No.1: Alternatives

In previous weeks a “decision problem” suitable for multicriteria analysis was decided.

 

In this assignment, you are asked to design alternatives concerning the above problem. Alternatives should be defined with necessary measurable characteristics in order to make the later evaluation phase possible. For this purpose, you are expected to prepare scaled plans (and sections if necessary) and give complementary data for measurement and comparison for each alternative. Alternatives should cover a large spectrum in order to represent all possible solutions to the defined problem and should be clearly distinct from each other.

 

This assignment should be submitted in a proper paper format. Particular care should be given to writing style and presentation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assignment No.2: Objectives, criteria and weights

 

TO BE SUBMITTED and DISCUSSED on April 14th, 2010

 

 

In previous assignment, you were asked to design alternatives for the defined problem in order to find solutions. In this assignment, you should:

 

  1. prepare a comprehensive list of all possible objectives concerning the problem (they should be in the form of “objective statement”),
  2. reduce the number of objectives to an amount short enough to be handled practically, but large enough to cover all the relevant issues and the interest of various groups,
  3. assign weights to objectives,
  4. define criteria for each objective in order to make the evaluation more concrete.

Assignment No.3: Measurements

 

TO BE SUBMITTED and DISCUSSED on April 28th, 2010

 

 

In previous assignments, you were required to design alternatives and to decide on objectives and criteria for the evaluation. In this assignment, you are asked to:

 

  1. determine relevant methods and units of measurements for each criterion (they should be stated in the form of mathematical expressions or detailed texts),
  2. achieve measurements for each criterion and for each alternative,
  3. present the results on a table (consolidation of measurements).

 

This assignment should be submitted in a proper paper format. Particular care should be given to writing style and presentation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assignment No.4: Comparison of alternatives

 

TO BE SUBMITTED and DISCUSSED on May 12th, 2010

 

 

This assignment forms the last stage of the multi-criteria decision process carried out during the previous assignments. You are now required to:

 

  1. prepare a “standardization” table using the results of the measurements achieved during the last assignment,
  2. make a “final evaluation table” ,
  3. write your comments about the findings reached at the end of the evaluation process.
